So, you are ready to Volunteer, Thank you so much!  Now, comes the hard part, what area do you want to volunteer for?  Please take a look through our list of volunteer opportunities.  There is something for everyone.  If you are interested in volunteering for more than one area, please feel free to pick them and let us know.

Positions to Volunteer But Cannot Attend:

Assemble SWAG Bags

Each Honored Guest of Night to Shine will receive a gift bag at the end of the night with souvenirs from their prom experience.  This team will oversee making sure all items make it into the bags.

Canvas Lodi Neighborhood (week of with notifications)

About a week prior to Night-To-Shine, we will need to distribute a letter and thank you token to the local neighbors around Hutchinson Street Square.  It is our way to give them a heads up of the special night and to thank them for understanding the extra folks parking in the neighborhood.

Dress Boutique

Assist at the various boutiques, to help our Honored Guests say yes to the dress.

Hair, Make-Up (Day of)

Looking for hair stylist, make-up artists, and manicurists to assist our Honored Guests in making their Prom night glamorous.

Make guest and volunteer phone calls

Assist with contacting our Honored Guests, Buddies, and Volunteers with various reminders and clarification of any questions we may have.

Seamstress

Assist with helping our Honored Guests make the right fit for their special evening.

Seek Donations/ Gift Baskets for Respite Room

Connect with various business to discuss possible donations.

 Positions to Volunteer For At Event:

Audio/Video Team

A team of professional videographers taking high-quality videos to capture the full scope of the evening.  Assist with all audio and tech aspects of the evening across the entire venue, including Dance Floor area, Red Carpet, Karaoke tech support and sound amplification throughout the venue

Belonging Check In/Out

If you like to work behind the scenes, this is a great team for you!  You will be responsible for taking coats, labeling them, and hanging them.  As Honored Guests leave, you will do it all in reverse!

Buddy Check-In

Check-in is the most important team at Night to Shine!  The check-in team oversees the Buddy check in.  Check-in will include greeting people, directing them to the correct check in area, checking them in.  Buddy’s will be escorted to their Honored Guests where they will be paired with them for the evening.

Dance Floor Host

Got twinkle toes?  We need you!  Help guests get started dancing!  Ensure the dance floor area stays cool and that there is plenty of water available for guests to stay hydrated.  Assist with any needs our Honored Guests and Buddy’s may have on the dance floor.  This is an absolute highlight of Night to Shine. 

Decor

Help to plan the decor for Night to Shine.  We need good co-leaders that would work with our Decor Team leader to take responsibility for planning and decorating an area of Night to Shine.  Also, there is a great need to join one of our Decor Room Teams to help with decorating the day before and day of the event.  Just sign up and we will be in touch with you to help you find the best area for you.  Also, if you help here, you could also be a Buddy during the event!

Floater Team

Constantly “float” around the Night to Shine Experience to assist anywhere an extra hand is needed.  Looking for flexible people that leaders will assign to teams and locations on the day of the event, where the greatest need is.

Flower Team (Assist Welcome)

Every prom Honored Guest deserves a corsage and boutonniere, and the flowers team is there to make it a reality!  This team oversees passing out and pinning all flowers to our Honored Guests as they arrive at prom.

Food Crew for Honored Guests

Our food teams are tasked with assisting with set up, preparations, and serving of food and drinks to our Honored Guests and Buddies.  If you have food service skills, this is the perfect team for you to share your gifts!  This team needs a lot of help and has some of the most fun!

Greeters

Greeters are vital to the success of Night to Shine!  Greeters are tasked with welcoming, directing and responding to various needs of honored guests, parents, and volunteers.  We want to make sure that every person at Night to Shine feels like the Kings and Queens they really are!

Guest Gift Take-A-Way Team

Prepare SWAG/Event Bags and or Boxes before the event.  Assist in the distribution before and during the Night to Shine event.

Guest Check-In Team

NIGHT OF THE EVENT Warmly greet guests, sign them.  Be available to answer any questions they may have.

Hair, Make-Up

Help with hair, nails, and make-up appointments pre-event and throughout the Night to Shine (subject to all COVID safety guidelines)

Karaoke

Our karaoke room is one of the biggest hits of prom!  The karaoke team is responsible for greeting and welcoming Honored Guests into the room, assisting them with song selection, and cheering them on during performances. 

Medical Team

Assist uniformed professional EMT personnel at the event by providing basic first aid and care for any medical needs or emergencies. Volunteers must be trained as either an EMT, medic, LVN, RN, doctor, or other medical profession.

Parent and Caretaker Banquet Room (Respite)

Help us love on all the deserving parents/caretakers by serving food, spending time getting to know them and just making them feel loved and appreciated. 

Parking/Traffic/Limo Team

This team will oversee the parking patterns and traffic flow of Honored Guests and volunteers as they arrive by directing them to appropriate drop off and parking areas.  Limos are one of the most cherished experiences of Night to Shine!  The Limo Team will coordinate with the parking team for the limo route.  This team’s primary responsibility is assisting Honored Guests as they enter and exit the limos. 

Photo Booth Help

What is prom without prom pictures?  The step and repeat photo booth are where each Honored Guest and Buddy will have their prom pictures taken.  Each Honored Guest and Buddy will receive a card with a link to their online photos.  Making sure each picture gets to its proper recipient is a top priority for this team.

Photography

A team of professional photographers taking high-quality photos to capture the full scope of memories of the evening. 

Quiet Room & Specialty Care

This room is specifically designed to comfort Honored Guests who may have become overstimulated on the dance floor or in other areas of the prom.  There will be various sensory activities to help aid in an overall calming experience.  The Specialty Care will also be assisting Buddies and their Honored Guests with any other needs that our Honored Guests may have.

Red Carpet & Paparazzi Team

Our ‘paparazzi’ is one of the funniest teams at prom!  This team is placed along the red carpet to cheer on and welcome each and every Honored Guest to prom.  This team is encouraged to take pictures with their phone and post them to social media using various Night to Shine hashtags.  At the end of the night, this team will assist in the exit process for Honored Guests and their Buddies.

Security

Support on-site uniformed Law Enforcement personnel by ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests and volunteers. Coordinate with local police, fire and rescue as needed. Volunteers must be 21 years or older and trained and certified in the security profession

Set-Up

Arrive at the designated time and execute event set-up, connect with DJ, audio/visual, activity and parking, teams to ensure they have everything they need, and the best possible event layout is in place. Also, if you help here, you could also be a Buddy during the event!

Arrive the day of the event, February 7th and execute the event set-up from signage and therapeutic rooms.  This is where it all comes together!

Shoeshine

Even the guys deserve pampering at prom!  The shoeshine team will coordinate and welcome our male Honored Guests to the shoeshine area as they receive the all-star treatment for their dancing shoes!

Tear Down/Clean-Up

When the party's over, it is your time to shine!  You will help get everything packed, loaded up, and cleaned up.  With all hands-on deck, we will be finished in no time!  Also, if you help here, you could also be a Volunteer during the event!
